Yves and Byron’s Stunning Summer Wedding In Adelaide, South Australia

A collection of real weddings, beautiful details and the stories behind them.

A Summer Wedding at Sunnybrae Estate in Adelaide

There are hot Adelaide summer days, and then there are 37-degree wedding days. This was definitely the latter.

The day began at EOS Hotel in the heart of Adelaide, where the morning was spent getting ready, catching up with family and friends and enjoying those last few hours before everything officially began. With guests travelling from all around Australia to celebrate, there was already a sense that this was more than just a wedding day. It was a chance to bring everyone together in one place.

Despite the heat outside, the atmosphere throughout the morning was relaxed and full of excitement. Between final touches, champagne, conversations and plenty of activity around the room, the preparations were soon complete and it was time to head into the city.

Adelaide is such a great city for wedding photography because there is so much variety within a relatively small area. From modern architecture and city streets to heritage buildings and quieter corners, there are plenty of opportunities to create photographs that feel relaxed and natural without spending hours travelling between locations.

Of course, with the temperature sitting around 37 degrees, keeping things simple was the priority. Rather than spending too long outside in the heat, we made the most of a few carefully chosen locations before everyone headed to Sunnybrae Estate for the ceremony and celebrations.

Sunnybrae Estate provided a beautiful setting for the rest of the day. With family and friends gathered from across Australia, the ceremony was filled with plenty of emotion, laughter and excitement as the couple finally had the chance to celebrate with all of their favourite people in one place.

After the ceremony, guests settled into the afternoon while we took some time for family photographs, wedding party photos and portraits around the grounds. Even on one of Adelaide’s hottest summer days, there were plenty of opportunities to find beautiful light and create relaxed photographs without keeping everyone away from the celebrations for too long.

As the afternoon turned into evening, the celebrations continued with good food, speeches, plenty of laughter and a very full dance floor.

What made this wedding particularly special was the number of people who had travelled from around Australia to be there. Weddings have a way of bringing people together, but when friends and family have travelled such long distances to celebrate, there is an extra sense of occasion to the day.

From getting ready at EOS Hotel and taking photographs around Adelaide CBD to the ceremony and reception at Sunnybrae Estate, it was a wedding filled with great people, plenty of energy and some seriously warm Adelaide summer weather.

A 37-degree day might not have been part of the original plan, but it certainly didn’t stop anyone from making the most of it.
